Adler has received the Veterinarian of the Year award from the Metropolitan NJ Veterinary Medical Association and an Outstanding Service Award from the Freeholders of Essex County for the work done with the Turtle Back Zoo.
He presently serves on the Governor's Veterinary Medical Education Advisory Committee and is the past chairman of the legislative committee of the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association. Adler has served as the secretary of the Metropolitan NJ Veterinary Medical Association, the president of the Central Jersey Veterinary Emergency Service and as co-chairman of the continuing education programs for the Atlantic Coast Veterinary Conference. They then started the Woodbridge Veterinary Group in 1982. Ira Niedweske, a veterinary school classmate, opened the Iselin Veterinary Hospital.
